Consider the age of your child and what she enjoys. It she spends time role-playing, you will want to supply her with the pieces to copy what she sees you doing on a daily basis. If she spends a lot of time with her dolls and stuffed animals, then a table and chairs with a teapot will be the center of her home.
With all the choices available, it is easy to carried away with the decorating aspect of the home and to forget the main idea of putting the right pieces in the pretend home. You want to create a place where she will enjoy spending time playing alone or with friends, not a doll's home that is pretty to look at. Make sure she plays a part in choosing what goes inside. You can even get inexpensive frames to frame her artwork to hang in her home or get pictures that she likes to add a comfortable feel to here new home away from home.
You may also consider adding a child sized rocking chair to her home, either inside or on the front porch if it has one. Bean bags are another favorite that allow versatility since they can carry them easily to where they want to use them and they as good for napping on as they are for sitting!
Be cautious about shopping for the accessories for the home since they are apt to look much smaller in the store than they will be in the home. If you overdo it, there won't be enough room to play! Consider the room that you have to work and decide what will work best before you go shopping.
Choose pieces that your child can grow with. If you only get things that "fit" her right now, she will outgrow her home by next year. You will be better off to buy pieces that are recommended for her age up to two or three years older.
Don't forget that this is a place to have fun and she will want to have some of her toys available in her new home. A toy chest will make an attractive and convenient accessory to keep her things neatly stored while she isn't using them. A chest with a bench on top will serve double duty as a place for visitors to sit.
